Center of excellence for research and development

CJ Blossom Park - Lab of the year

In order to concentrate its research work in one place, the South Korean corporation CJ wanted to create a laboratory building that would not only provide a dynamic and creative working environment. But it should also break down boundaries and walls between departments and countries, thus enabling a completely different approach to research and a new kind of research work.

Supporting interdisciplinary research

Berlin Institute for Medical Systems Biology (BIMSB)

How can a building support collaboration between researchers from different disciplines and countries? And how can it spatially bring together intensive computer work with innovative laboratory research? The new building for the Berlin Institute for Medical Systems Biology (BIMSB) of the Max Delbrück Center for Molecular Medicine in the Helmholtz Association (MDC) answers these questions in a vivid way.

Flagship project for sustainability

Med Campus Graz

The medical campus of the University of Graz not only relies on networked structures to promote communication and cooperation, but also on 'being open': in the architecture, in the materials and in the use of the laboratory areas - always with the aim of meeting the highest sustainability criteria. This is how the Med Campus became a flagship project for sustainability and an environment conducive to research.
