School with media competence

The Ernst Reuter School (ERS) in Karlsruhe is a comprehensive school that sees itself not only as a ‘learning environment’ but above all as a ‘living environment’. Pupils here are to be prepared for (professional) life with innovative educational concepts. For example, the ERS is convinced that media education must be holistic; digital media are therefore an important and essential part of everyday school life. The comprehensive school has already been honouredseveral times for its media education concept. In order to optimise the use of digital technologies and media for pupils, the Ernst Reuter School has turned a room into a makerspace: this innovative concept is intended to break down subject boundaries, enable the combinination of knowledge and offer even more space for new ideas.

At the Ernst Reuter School, pupils now have a space in which they can fully develop their digital and media skills. The combination of flexible media supply and mobile equipment makes it possible to use the space in a variety of ways: whether it's a film studio or a tinkerer's workshop - the furnishing elements can be moved, folded up and recombined in no time at all.
