Ergonomics for even greater safety
Isolators protect people. They form a barrier between highly active, toxic substances and the employees who work with them. In pharmaceutical and chemical production, this protection is vital – because even the smallest amounts can be harmful to health.
But protection alone is not enough. Working in an isolator must also be ergonomic – because protection is only complete if operators can work efficiently, safely and in a manner that is appropriate for their bodies. This is exactly where our mock-up ergonomics consulting comes in.
A mock-up is a true-to-scale, physical model of your future isolator – made of wood and plexiglass, flexibly constructed to simulate different variants. It serves to test usability, ergonomics and process flows in a realistic manner before the actual system is built.
This is important in order to get a feel for its practical suitability. For example, while it is easy to lift a 5-kilo bucket outside an isolator, the same movement can be extremely difficult or impossible inside an isolator due to limited mobility and leverage. This is something that cannot be achieved with virtual mock-ups.
We work with you to simulate the entire work process – from bringing in the materials to handling them in the isolator and cleaning them. This allows us to identify at an early stage whether heights, grip positions, sightlines and movement sequences are optimal – and adjust the design accordingly.
Anyone who works with toxic substances must be able to rely on their environment. An ergonomically designed isolator reduces physical strain, minimises sources of error and increases concentration – for greater safety when handling hazardous substances.
Every person is different. That's why we test with operators of different heights. This ensures that your system works for everyone – not just on paper, but in real everyday working life.
Poor posture, restricted visibility or hard-to-reach components can lead to long-term health problems or make work processes more difficult. Our mock-up consultation helps to identify and avoid these risks at an early stage.
At Waldner, we don't conduct mock-up consultations virtually, but on site with real tests. Ergonomics is a crucial factor for safety, efficiency and employee satisfaction, which is best tested on a real prototype.
Our in-house carpenters produce an initial quotation drawing – including glove positions, working areas and equipment.
Once the quote has been approved, our carpenters will produce a flexible model that can be adjusted in terms of depth, width, height and features.
You come to us to Wangen – ideally with the people who will later be working with the isolator. Together, we test the process step by step.
We adapt the design based on your feedback – and document all ergonomic findings for later construction.
Together, we develop your isolator design – tested, documented, and proven in practice.
